The images below show different maps to help find an ideal location for a family to relocate to based on different factors and important features. This week was pretty smooth sailing.

Week 4 Participation Activity
Summary:
GIS has become an important role in disaster relief around the world. GIS can quickly deliver large amounts of information and data to people quickly showing, for example, the size and locations of natural hazards, areas affected and the costs involved, or potential dangers. Disaster relief organizations can use GIS to effectively determine where to allocate resources and best resolve a situation. GIS also can be used to help the public become aware of disasters, hazards, etc.
Link to Video:
This assignment was fairly straight forward. The majority of the time spent on this activity was due to the inability to reproject the coordinate system correctly and the awful delays that working with edesktop have. And, it seems that I cannot get the video to work after 11 different attempts... which isn't a surprise given how this course is going.

Week 9 - Vector Analysis II
Q1: To produce similar results to the steps used for the Union tool, I chose to use the Intersect tool. There were no noticibe differences in the output.
Q2: To remove areas in the Buffers_Union_single shapefile that overlay with the conservation_areas shapefile, I chose to use the Erase tool. This created a new shapefile of polygons of the possible sites required.
Q3: There are 4 features in the possible_sites shapefile. The largest area is 8.91 sq. meters with the smallest areas being 5.8575 sq meters.

Week 6 - Georeferencing Rasters
Below is the Week 6 Lab exercise, Georeferencing Rasters. This lab was straight forward and enjoyable.
With the north image, using 1st Order Polynomial for the transformation and 10 links, my total RMS Error was 4.96857.
With the south image, using 2nd Order Polynomial for the taransformation and 12 links, my total RMS Error was 3.32348. I decided not to use any more links or change to a 3rd Order Polynomial as my layers seemed to match up well with a good RMS Error.

Week 5 - Data Search
This project required finding data online in order to create the maps below. The maps were projected into NAD 1983 HARN State Plane East. The toughest part aside from extreme lag in working with ArcGIS, was finding the right data and knowing whether the data being downloaded was correct. I was never able to get a DEM file to work even after downloaded all necessary files.
The first map shows wetlands in Lake County, Florida.

Week 4 - Map
The map above shows three different projections (Albers, State Plane N, and UTM) of Florida. The four counties that are highlighted are shown with the calculated square miles for each projection. The most difficult part of this assignment was to come up with a good way to display the areas of each county and have them highlighted. I solved this by selecting each county and creating a new layer from the selected counties. I then selected to display the Area field on each county.

Week 3 Map Deliverables
Below are the 3 maps assigned for Week 3. The only troubles I had were with organizing and making the Legend on the maps similar to the examples given in the instruction.
Map 1:
This map shows state population density of Mexico.
Map 2:
Map 2 shows central Mexico with high population urban areas.
Map 3:
The third map uses stretched symbology to show elevation levels of Mexico.
